Archived Stories Rev David Sherwood chaired the annual Vestry Meeting of St Mary's Church, Hemyock when Churchwardens for the coming year are elected.

Retiring Wardens David Bawler, who had served nine years, and Michael Cooper, who had served one, were thanked for their work.

Dear Member, The new season is upon us and, with all our new facilities now in place (courts, pavilion and floodlights), it should be a good one!  As you will see below, the committee has been working hard to develop the club and get more people playing tennis.

Hemyock Singers to Separate?

Archived Stories At the annual general meeting of Hemyock Singers the decision was made to look at formalising the separation of the Group.

Reflecting on the history of Singers, Chairman, Janice Bawler, reminded the meeting how the group had evolved over almost 40 years. What had begun as a Music Appreciation Club within Hemyock Leisure Centre had grown into a highly successful Society putting on choral concerts and on stage, award winning musicals. Today the success continues with entertaining concerts, plays and pantomimes.

Open Evening at Hemyock Tennis Club

Archived Stories The Tennis Club are having an Open Evening on May 1st from 6:30 onwards, at Longmead, with a local sports shop providing rackets or racquets to try out.  There will be light refreshments in the Pavilion afterwards.  Non-members and members are welcome

St Mary's Annual Meeting 2008

Archived Stories Reports presented at the annual church meeting of St Mary’s Hemyock with Culm Davy Chapel showed them to be lively forward looking communities. The buildings including the Church Room are in good repair and the interior of St Mary’s is to be redecorated during the summer months. Architect plans for possible alterations at the church had been on display and following an open parish meeting Church Council will be considering the way forward.

Annual St George's Day Parade

Archived Stories Carrying the flag of St George, Amie Sellick of 1st Hemyock Scout Group led members of the Tiverton District Scout and Guide Associations as they paraded through Tiverton for their annual service to honour the patron saint of Scouting and to remember the life and service of their founder, Robert Baden Powell.

Groups take it in turn to lead the procession and this year saw the smartly turned out Hemyock youngsters taking pride of place marching in step behind the Tiverton Town Band.

Blackdown Hills Food and Drink Festival

Hemyock Parish Hall is the venue for the launch of the 2008 Blackdown Hills Food and Drink Festival on Saturday 24th May from 10am to 4pm

There will be something for everyone - local producers selling their fabulous food, drink and crafts. Take some refreshments whilst catching up with  friends and enjoy the entertainment on offer. A great family fun day out and its free!

Archived Stories In wintry conditions at Amory Park, Hemyock under-8s lost 5-2 to well organised Twyford.

With the score at 3-2 Hemyock tried hard to get back into the game, but despite going close, left space at the back for Twyford to add to their tally and win in style.Joe Hurley scored both goals and was the pick of the Hemyock players.
