Archived Stories One man's rubbish.

I spend a lot of mental energy and self-discipline trying to stop myself becoming a grumpy old man. In particular I have given up complaining about issues like 'You can't get anyone to mend anything these days' (which isn't really that true anyway) or about the plethora of signs on our roads.

Strawberry tennis tea. Our Strawberry Tennis afternoon was not rained off!  We had a very pleasant afternoon in an American Tournament, with partners drawn out of a hat, which Julie Steed and Jerry Popham won.  Then we adjourned to the Pavilion where Ann Langford and Sue Lambert had organised a slap-up tea with strawberries, champagne, and cakes.

Archived Stories Devon County has passed the parking enforcement on to MDDC as from the 5th May. The Enforcement Officers have been very lenient in the first few weeks, just to let the new arrangements bed in, by now they will be keeping watch on how we all park. This will not be like the Traffic Warden approach, their brief is to be helpful, to give advice where to park etc. The whole object is to keep traffic flowing and relieve congestion. It is not revenue raising, it is funded by DCC and we have three Enforcement Officers for the whole of Mid Devon. You can be sure that some will park in parking restricted areas and they will have to pay the charge of £50 or £70, depending on the severity of the offence, reduced by 50% if paid within 14 days, they will have the right of appeal.
