A big thank-you to all those who supported the June fund raising events for the Festival of Trees to be held in the Church in Advent. (15 - 17 December) The Open Gardens in Longmead and the Coffee Morning at Penlee raised over £600 towards the festival expenses.
Thank you to all the people who have recently offered books for the Parish Church Library. We've go some interesting new titles in stock to offer some thought provoking reading. You'll find the library at the back of the church (near the font and by the Children's Corner). The library is free and open to anyone.
Members and friends of St Mary's Guild left Hemyock at 9:30 Wednesday June 6th for their outing. The venue this year was Crediton Parish Church for their floral tribute to 100 years of broadcasting.
On the 15th of July, we had a Parade Service at St. Mary's in Hemyock to celebrate the centenary of the Scout Movement. During the service, the scouts read some short poems about different aspect of life, and one of them was called 'Rest' by P Clifton.
As the new pavillion at Longmead becomes ready, help will be needed with painting and decorating.

Tennis coaching is being arranged for the week of August 20th to 24th (Monday to Friday) for Adult Improvers and Juniors (over 11yrs).
A campaign to provide Hemyock with a children's play area that started 15 years ago has finally come to fruition. Jayne McLintock, who founded the Pumpkins Playpark committee in 1992, officially presented the new timber playground to the Village on Saturday, July 7.
A Hemyock Nursery has won an award at this year's Hampton Court Flower Show. The largest annual flower show in the world showcased its best crop of gardens in 18 years, with 10 RHS gold medals announced earlier this week.
All Saint’s Church, Culmstock was the venue for a choral concert given by Hemyock Singers with proceeds going to two charities supported by the Blackdown Mothers’ Union who provided excellent refreshments at the end of the evening
All of the music and some of the words had been composed by member Bob Brien who acted as Musical Director for the evening.
Despite overcast skies and another event being held in the village the annual Summer Fete organised by St Mary’s Parish Church was a great success raising over £1,800.
